Jerzy Małek Black Sheep
19:00 – 2019-01-12 – Main Auditorium – 35 zł
The band members are recognized Polish jazz musicians, long-time collaborators of legends of Polish and world jazz.
Their music is a fusion of many musical styles combined with an untamed jazz improvisation. The harmonic layer is characterized by extensive, modernist chord combinations. They form a joint narrative whose characteristic feature is the impressionist build up of the form. This allows combination of elements of modern jazz with other musical genres, or their elements, which the trained ear will recognize instantly. The melodic layer are phrases that can be repeated after the first hearing. This makes the music, despite the sublime form, approachable for every recipient. A very rich rhythmic layer, balancing between jazz, hip-hop and alternative rock, unites the whole project, creating the quintessence of the band’s musical style together with the rest of the elements.
