Kayah & Transoriental Orchestra perform songs inspired by traditional Jewish music and songs from various regions of Europe and the Middle East. The concert features musical reminiscences of the most famous songs in modern and energetic concert arrangements, and Kayah sings in seven languages: Hebrew, Dutch, Arabic, Macedonian, English, Yiddish and Ladino.

Kayah invited Atanas Valkov – a Polish-Bulgarian film composer and music producer to collaborate on the project. Together, they selected outstanding instrumentalists and soloists of Polish, Ukrainian and Iranian origin, which additionally broadens the musical dialogue and gives the project an authentic multicultural character.

Jan Smoczyński took on the role of musical director of the concerts, making them unique.
The artists’ repertoire includes, among others, such songs as Aman Minush, Quinze Anos, Kondja Mia, Lamma Badah, El Elijahu, Cziribim, Hava Nagila, Ajde Jano, My Yiddishe Mame, or Rebeka and Warszawo ma, as well as songs well known from Kayah’s repertoire, such as Sto lat młodej parze, or Jeśli Bóg istnieje.

The band’s instrumentation includes unusual instruments such as: cimbalom, santoor, oud, saz, lutes, flutes, pipes, world drums and many others.
The project premiered at the Singer’s Warsaw Jewish Culture Festival on August 30th, 2012.
After very enthusiastic reactions from the audience, the artists decided to record the material. The album “Kayah & Transoriental Orchestra” had its premiere on the artist’s birthday – November 5th, 2013.
The artists perform with the project both in Poland and abroad (including Bali, Israel or Spain), always attracting crowds of fantastically entertaining audiences and winning gigantic ovations.
