Lubliner Festiwal – Ist Jewish Culture Festival in Lublin
Jewish Culture Festival – Lubliner Festival is a project aimed to fill the empty space left by the former Jewish district. Through music, theatre performances, meetings, and educational activities, we will talk about Jewish culture. The focus will primarily be on its present face, keeping in mind its past and importance for the history of Lublin. We will meet in the city spaces – places which witnessed the history of Jews in Lublin. On the other, as well as spaces that begin to rewrite this history. One of such spaces is the building of the former rabbinical academy, the Chachmei Lublin Yeshiva, which celebrates its 90th anniversary this year.
During the six festival’s days, a variety of music themes and trends will be presented. They will include Hasidic songs, lyrical songwriting, Jewish cabaret, klezmer music and contemporary jazz arrangements inspired by the music of Ashkenazi and Sephardic Jews. The opening of the festival will be a unique opportunity to hear the world-famous cantor, Yoni Rose. Among the invited artists are, among others MILO Ensemble, KROKE and the Roth / Zimpel / Zemler trio. Actors from the Jewish Theater in Warsaw will also present their show.
Accompanying events include workshops, meetings and walks in the on-line and live formula.
