SACRUM / PROFANUM is an attempt to enter sacred music of different eras into the context of the modern world – its richness of sounds, freedom of interpretation and expression. Compositions of the medieval mystic Hildegard of Bingen, kept in secret in the Vatican “Miserere” by Gregorio Allegri or works of modern avant-gardist Sofi Gubaidulina was material so far performed with a huge formal anointing, and his attempts of any interference in arrangement and interpretation were almost forbidden. Bałdych, watching carefully the changes of today’s world, takes up this challenge and creates a new project.

After extremely successful projects “The New Tradition” with Yaron Herman, “Antiphona – Psalmy Syryjskie” and recently “Brothers” with Norwegian Helge Lien Trio, Bałdych this time offers incredibly spiritual music realized in the spirit of unrestricted improvisation and using contemporary artistic means like sound He creates conceptual music, but in constant dialogue with his audience.  Adam Bałdych Quartet – is co-created with outstanding Polish jazz masters Krzysztof Dys on piano, Michał Barański on double bass and Dawid Fortuna on Drums.
