The exhibition refers to the thread connecting their work – the image of a woman and her functioning in social and private space. Anna, reaching for the stereotypical perception of a modern woman, refers to cultural clichés, while Irena focuses on female corporeality, embedding it in her autobiography. The authors present textile and photo collages, ready-made objects and photographs. The title of the exhibition refers to over 35 years of artistic activity of the Nawrot sisters. The artist’s literally sewn together real-life situations and joined them into autobiographical artifacts, making the threads and red yarn a leit motivem of the exhibition.
This is the fourth joint presentation of the Nawrot sisters. Their first show took place in 1985 at Galeria Pracownia Dziekanka in Warsaw, the second in 1987 at Galeria ON in Poznań, and the third at Galeria BWA in Kielce in 2018.
