At the exhibition, we will see objects, photos, texts and films inspired by the artist’s performative activities.
Płornicka’s art is very sensual. The proximity, presence, relationships between people is illustrated by means of objects, minimalistic gestures, making them a personal and existential message that has a universal dimension.
Anna Płotnicka (born 1956, Wrocław) – graduate of the Faculty of Painting, Graphics and Sculpture of the Academy of Fine Arts in Wrocław, she graduated in 1980 in the studio of prof. Jan Jaromir Alexiuna. The artist’s works are performative in character, situating themselves on the borderline of installations, photography, video art and performance. Płotnicka is fascinated by activities that are a kind of arrangement of activities with the participation of other people and artistic situations that he designs for others. She participated in many shows of women’s art, including Presence (Galeria ON, Poznań 1987), Woman about a woman (BWA Bielsko-Biała, 1996). She is also a curator of exhibitions, such as the Residence (Galeria Motorenhalle in Dresden 2006 and BWA Wrocław 2007) and the series of exhibitions by Krzątanina (Galeria BWA Awangarda, Wrocław). Scholarship holder of the Copernicus Foundation (Germany 2005) and CEAAC / WRO (France 2008). Płotnicka’s works are in the collections of the Society of Friends of Fine Arts “Zachęta”, the National Museum in Wrocław, the National Museum in Warsaw and the Labirynt Gallery in Lublin and private collections, and were exhibited, among others, in New York, Eindhoven, Warsaw, Krakow and Wroclaw.
