Ghost Dog is a professional murderer as well as a follower of the samurai code.
A long time ago, he was rescued by an accidentally passing gangster (as it later turns out – one of the mafia bosses). Since then, Ghost Dog becomes his vassal and carries out his orders, constantly improving himself. He lives in a shed next to the loft, on the roof of one of the buildings. His passion are books. While waiting for his master’s next orders, he practices kendo or meditates. However, while on a job of killing one of the criminals, he consciously leaves a young girl alive, reading the samurai novel Rashomon. After this event, the gangsters sentenced him to death.
