6th Sound of Words Festival: Grupa w Składzie creates unique music, based mainly on improvisation, communication and musical deconstruction, which gave their sound an experimental, and at the same time intuitive, character.
Grupa w Składzie – a music band founded at the turn of the 1960s and 70s in Ożarów on the initiative of Milo Kurtis. The group, apart from Kurtis, included Jacek Malicki and Andrzej Kasprzyk. Members of the Grupa w Składzie did not have academic music education, but they were interested in contemporary music, and the work of John Cage or Karheinz Stockhausen was one of the sources of inspiration for their activities. They also referred to the artistic practices of the Fluxus movement.
Grupa w Składzie creates unique music, based mainly on improvisation, communication and musical deconstruction, which gave their sound an experimental, and at the same time intuitive, character. In the case of GWS, it was difficult to distinguish between the rehearsals and the concert. The group’s distinguishing features are the smooth transition between forms, the lack of clear divisions, the beginning and end of the concert, focusing on interaction and communication.
The team suspended its activity in 1975. They returned in 2008 and resumed their concert activity. In 2014, a record was released documenting performances of the improvisers from theGrupa w Składzie experimenting with sound and visual arts.
