The setting of the play is a hotel – a makeshift, fleeting, and crime-prone place. The authors choose this mysterious space as a setting for the convention of a crime story into, subversively analysing the motif of a female victim.

“Hotel H.****” is a performance inspired by, among others, Alfred Hitchcock’s cinema, Edward Hopper’s paintings, and Peter Handke’s work. The creators enter into a dialogue with the infamous visual legacy of male gaze, which objectifies, sexualizes, and/or uses women as a tool to build the advantage of male characters. As a result, the female body shown through the male gaze means more to the viewers than the actual actions, goals, and adventures of the heroines. In the performance of “Hotel H.****”, the creators approach this topic with a sense of humour, playing with form and constant deconstruction. The viewer, led from room to room, looks at the metamorphoses of endless roles performed by four performers: detectives, murdered women, torturers…
