“If I Had Legs I’d Kick You” produced by A24 and starring Rose Byrne, who won an award at the 2025 Berlinale, is an intense emotional rollercoaster about a woman who struggles day after day with her crumbling everyday life and her own limits of endurance.
The film brims with tension in a series of close-up, mesmerising, intense shots. Rose Byrne delivers a display of precision acting, seamlessly shifting from anger to despair, from determination to madness, crafting an Oscar-worthy performance. It’s a realistic, poignant, and unsettling portrait of a woman desperately trying to cling to what little control she has in the midst of chaos.
Director Mary Bronstein, inspired by her own experiences, and producer Josh Safdie (“Uncut Gems”) craft a film that ruthlessly debunks the myth of “perfect motherhood” — and leaves viewers breathless. The supporting cast also includes a superb Conan O’Brien as a therapist and A$AP Rocky as a motel caretaker.
