The international co-production “Imagine”, which had its world premiere at the Toronto festival, is a touching and captivating story of Ian (Edward Hogg), a charismatic blind instructor, who comes to a prestigious center in Lisbon to teach young patients the difficult art of spatial orientation. His controversial methods are initially met with distrust, which later changes into a growing enthusiasm. Meanwhile, the teacher’s greatest interest is in the beautiful, introverted Ewa (Alexandra Maria Lara, the memorable performer of the role of Traudl Junge, Hitler’s personal secretary in the film “The Fall”).

Thanks to unconventional tips and Ian’s extra-sensory sensitivity, Ewa will overcome her fear and try to take her first steps outside the clinic on her own. He will soon discover that every act of courage in life creates a risk without which it is impossible to taste freedom.

Where does the Benshi name come from?
When the cinema appeared in Japan the special office of storyteller and interpreter, because of the cultural differences, was created with it. He was responsible for explaining to viewers the content flowing from the foreign movies. This responsible office was called “Benshi”.
