Despite being made of 3 such strong personalities and musical imaginations, the band creates a monolith, presenting a variety of contexts, experiences, and musical worlds.

John Butcher has been one of the most important figures in the improvised music scene in the world for many years. He has developed his own distinctive style, but has not given up experimenting with the sound and techniques of playing the instrument. He plays jazz, improvised music, and also tries his hand at electro acoustic projects. He holds a Ph.D. in quantum physics. Since the early 1980s, he has worked with hundreds of musicians – including Derek Bailey, Matt Shipp, Phil Minton, Joe McPhee, John Stevens, Okkyung Lee, and many others.

Mark Sanders is a drummer who played on over 200 records. He performed at major festivals including Nickelsdorf, Vancouver, Roskilde, Glastonbury, Womad, among others. He regularly plays in groups including with Evan Parker, Trevor Watts, John Butcher, Neil Charles, Paul Dunmall, Elliott Sharp. For 7 years he was a principal lecturer at Leeds Conservatoire, teaching his own Improvisation module, and is a visiting lecturer at the Royal Academy of Music.

John Edwards is a true virtuoso whose stunning range of techniques and limitless musical imagination have redefined the possibilities of the double bass and spectacularly expanded its role. Constantly searching, he has played with Evan Parker, Sunny Murray, Derek Bailey, Joe McPhee, Lol Coxhill, Peter Brötzmann, Mulatu Astatke and many others.
