Kalush is a Ukrainian hip hop band founded in 2019 by rapper Oleh Psiuk from the city of Kalush (Ivano-Frankivsk region), multi-instrumentalist Ihor Didenchuk and DJ MC Kilimmen. The same year, the musicians published their debut music video for the song “Ne marinuj” on YouTube, which they shot on the streets of Kalusha. The director of the music video Delta Arthur is known, among others from the production of music videos of rapper Alyona Alyona. After the release of the second music video for the song “Ty honysz”, the band signed a contract with the recognized American hip-hop label Def Jam Recordings, which resulted in the release of their debut album on February 19, 2021. “Hotin”, which turned out to be a huge success, and the band confirmed their unique style and strong position on the Ukrainian music scene. In 2021, Kalush announced the addition of Tymofija Muzyczuk and Vitaly Dużyk and the launch of a parallel project called Kalush Orchestra, which, contrary to the mainstream music of the band, focuses on mixing contemporary sounds, rap with Ukrainian traditional music. The group became the official representative of Ukraine in the 66th Eurovision Song Contest, winning first place.
