Travis Hurley (played by Australian star Simon Baker) is a burnt-out detective struggling with his own demons. A man arrives in a remote mining town in South Australia to revisit an unsolved case that shook the inhabitants of this peculiar place twenty years ago.

Then there was the mysterious murder of the Aboriginal girl Charlotte Hayes. The perpetrator was not caught, and the cursory investigation was quickly concluded. However, Travis does not give up, although it is not so obvious for the locals to give any information to a white policeman. The protagonist reaches the broken family of the victim, living witnesses and the single brother of the main suspect, gaining a new perspective on the events from years ago. The truth slowly begins to emerge in this intimate story about trying to cope with loss and the approach of the justice system to the indigenous people of Australia. In "Limbo", Ivan Sen continues the thematic interests of his previous films – "Mystery Road" (2013) or "Goldstone" (2016), which were largely based on his personal experiences. We are talking about the fight for equal treatment of Aboriginal people who have been victims of crime, because "Limbo" is a telling portrait of everyday racism experienced by indigenous Australians.
