The 14th edition of the LFF will be held online between November 23rd to 28th 2020.
It is the most thematically, stylistically and formally varied, the most extensive international film festival in Lublin. This year, the most interesting new films from around the world, included in the programme, will be at your fingertips: access to all festival titles and events is free and available online. LFF will be able to visit homes throughout Poland.
Authors from all over the world have submitted 1,465 shorts and feature-length films to the festival, of which over 100 works will appear in the programme. Polish and European premieres constitute more than a half of the programme, several films will have their world premieres during the Festival. Viewers will be able to see films competing in 8 short-length competitions and one full-length competition for the Golden Anteater statuettes.

The jury of this year’s edition will include: Katarzyna Borowiecka (journalist, author of the award-winning ABCpopkultura programme on the Polish Radio 3, host of the News Film magazine in Canal +); Agnieszka Pisarek (film scholar, film critic, associated with the Sfilmowani channel on YouTube since 2016) and Dawid Adamek (founder and creator of the Sfilmowani channel).
FEATURE FILMS
One of the strongest points of this year’s programme is the Focus: Full Length competition, where independent films from the Czech Republic, Cyprus, Latvia and Russia will be featured alongwith recognized Polish titles such as “Eastern” by Piotr Adamski or “Supernova” by Bartosz Kruhlik. All foreign full-length films at this year’s Festival are Polish premieres. Among them “Jelgava 94” by Janis Abele – a young director already hailed as a revelation from Latvia.
SHORT FILMS
The competition screenings of short films have always been a strong point of the Lublin Film Festival. For the organizers of the event, it is the genre that most quickly portrays the dynamically changing world and new trends in cinematography. This year too, the short films are an important part of the festival’s programme. There will be 7 thematic competitions: Focus: Emotions, Focus: Experiment, Focus: Document, Focus: Theme, Focus: Idea, Focus: Animation and Focus: Children (7+). This year’s Festival also includes as many as 12 non-competitive thematic sections, including short films: Animated world, Maladjusted, What are we afraid of or The world of women.
ACCOMPANYING EVENTS
The programme also includes accompanying events such as online workshops on film language, modern writing and speaking about film, and storytelling. The workshops will be conducted by Marcin Maron, Ph. D. and Professor Łukasz Jasina.
The programme will also be complemented by the festival club, with a concert by Czuła Observacja performing live music to Winsor McCay’s avant-garde animations.
