The concert is to give strength, energy and show Anka that she is not alone in her fight. With following artists playing: Mikroelementy, Moriah Woods and Filip Borowicz.
Anka Kawiak – Łydka, a 37-year-old woman, raises a 12-year-old daughter, has two cats, a bicycle, rented flat, a job she loves – just the trivial and ordinary life we see every day. Anka also has a lymphoma – she faced a challenge. In 2017, she was diagnosed with a malignant tumor of the immune system – Hodgkin’s Lymphoma. The first line of treatment brought short-term remissions. Currently, the disease has returned – Anka is in the course of stronger chemotherapy and will be preparing for autograft.
Hodgkin’s lymphoma is a cancer that develops mainly in the lymph nodes and other lymphatic organs. It accounts for about 1% of all cancers in Poland and mainly affects young people. 30% of patients with Hodgkin’s lymphoma do not respond to standard therapies. This disease usually affects people younger than 40 years of age.
Anka needs our help to have the strength to fight this ruthless opponent.
Mikroelementy – are an eleven-person orchestra / collective set up to send healing sound vibrations to the listeners. The band forms a musical organism based on a meditative trance, which is a common denominator for musicians from different sound backgrounds. Mutual openness to the energy of individual members of the band and the tendency to spontaneous improvisation is the foundation of the music they create. Among the artists who inspired them are: John Coltrane, Fela Kuti, Don Cherry, Miles Davies or early Santana. The line up of the band is a unique collage of personalities: the most experienced members of the band – the icon of Polish drumming – Jerzy “Słoma” Słomiński and double-bass player Karol “Kolor” Gadzało joined forces with musicians associated with the young alternative music scene in Lublin: Maciek Połynko, Łukasz Prokop, Łukasz Krzywc, Paweł “Sindbad” Strycznywicz, Jacek Steinbrich, Lidia Szpulka and Tadeusz Cieślak (known from such bands as the Minister Sector, Joseph Wieniawski Sextet, Betanjehu, Wormwood, Freenology or Techytrze) and musicians who have been providing the brass section, Marcin “Kabat”Kowalczuk and Piotr “Maupa”Gołębiewski known among others from the legendary Lublin “Skubańce”collective.
Moriah Woods – a singer-songwriter Moriah Woods, currently living Puławy, comes from Colorado, USA. She has music in her blood, her mother is a violinist, her father is a rock musician. As a teenager, she moved out of the home to play and travel. After returning to her home, Moriah began writing her own songs. In December 2013, her first album, entitled “Bring the Rain”, was released. Interestingly, the album was recorded in her home. The album contains ten compositions maintained in the style of American folk of the 1920s. In 2016, she released her first studio album “The Road to Some Strange Forest” under the patronage of Co Jest Grane 24. The album was promoted by the single “The Serpent” to which the video was filmed. She has performed in Poland and abroad – in Germany, Belgium, the Netherlands, France, the USA, Hungary, Slovakia, Ukraine and Estonia. Together with her band she performed, among others, at: Łódź Songwriter Festival (2015), Liveurope Showcase (2015), Poznań Enea Spring Break (2016), Slow Life Music Festival (2016), Augustoff Festival (2016), Piotrkoff Festival (2018). She became known to the wider audience by opening concerts by LP during the Polish part of her European tour in Warsaw and Poznań. Together with the band she became a finalist in the Firestone Headliners of Tomorrow competition (2017).
