This multi-coded performance is a meeting of artists from various fields. It poses questions about our common, but also individual, attitude to the past and to what is to come.
Time present and time past
Are both perhaps present in time future
And time future contained in time past
T.S. Eliot
It is an attempt to play with being nostalgic, plunging into good and bad, old times, but also an expression of fear of old age and death, or the expectation of happiness and the most important artistic moment that we have always tried to experience. The latest performance by the Lublin Dance Theatre was created to mark the 20th anniversary of the ensemble’s work and is based on T. S. Eliot’s “Four Quartets”.
Where are the past and the future if everything that really exists is now? In spite of the cult of youth, idealized bodies and physical fitness, our bodies and minds change. The great beauty of old age is coming, closing the past in memory and the future in the awaiting of another moment of happiness. The performance by the Lublin Dance Theatre takes place in this state of suspension between nostalgia and hope. In the magazine “Teatr” monthly poll, the performance was included in the Jadwiga Majewska’s list of the best dance performances in the 2020/2021 season.
