Olga Avigail Mieleszczuk: From Rishon LeZion to Lublin – recital for the opening of the festival

19:00 - 09.08.2022 - wstęp wolny - more

The 3rd Lubliner Festival will be officially opened with a performance by Olga Mieleszczuk, who flies from Israel especially for the Lublin event.

The concert, which at the same time promotes the new album of the Polish-Israeli singer Olga Avigail, is an invitation to a fascinating musical journey through Israel – both from biblical, and the modern day. Olga conveys the geographic and cultural diversity of the
Land of Israel through Hebrew songs – both traditional and new. The journey begins in Eilat, on the southern border of Israel, and ends in Rosh Hanikra – at its northwestern end. It includes the primal sounds of the Negev desert, the holy tones of Jerusalem and the sweet melodies of the Sea of Galilee. We will taste wines from the famous Rishon LeZion vineyards. On the way, we will meet famous biblical figures, such
as King David or the prophetess Miriam, as well as contemporary Israeli artists, the poet Rachel or Nomi Szemer. The songs are mostly performed in Hebrew, but evoke the sounds of other cultures and religions – Arab, European, Armenian, Bedouin or Druze. This project brought together musicians of various origins who played 31 instruments to show the multitude of musical styles of the Israeli cultural melting pot, where the song of the desert caravan meets jazz, and the sounds of ancient santura – bossa nova. The music is accompanied by pictures of
Israeli landscapes and a handful of stories.

The event was prepared to mark the 30-th anniversary of the partnership between Lublin and the Israeli city of Rishon LeZion, Step into an audiovisual journey around Israel.
