Nominated for nine Oscars, the latest film by Joachim Trier, director of “The Worst Man in the World.” One of the most awarded and important films of the year, it features music by Polish composer Hania Rani.
Sisters Nora (Renate Reinsve) and Agnes (Inga Ibsdotter Lilleaas) reunite with their estranged father, the charismatic, once-great film director Gustav (Stellan Skarsgård). He offers Nora, a stage actress, a role in his latest film, which he hopes will mark his return to the world of film. When she rejects the offer, he hires a young Hollywood star (Elle Fanning). Now the sisters must navigate not only their complicated situation with their father but also an American star who is changing their family dynamic.
