A former surfer (Nicolas Cage) returns to the paradise beach of his childhood to spend time with his teenage son.
It’s supposed to be a boys’ weekend among the ocean waves. However, a group of locals who claim rights to the local beach forbid newcomers from entering “their territory”. Irritated by the taunts of arrogant thugs, the man tries to show who’s boss and save face in his son’s eyes. However, he will soon learn painfully what an unequal game he’s gotten himself into. The beach, heated by the hellish heat, becomes a nightmarish trap from which he can only break free by facing a local gang that even the police fear.

Series: See the Sea
The holidays are coming soon and millions of Poles will face the eternal dilemma of whether to go to the mountains, or the seaside. In June, Benshi will choose the latter option. First, we will visit the Baltic Sea with four people trapped in a holiday home due to nearby forest fires in Christian Petzold’s Silver Bear-winning film “Red Sky”. In Payal Kapadia’s Grand Prix-winning film “All We Imagine as Light”, we will follow the tale of two friends who go on a trip to a seaside town to take a break from their daily problems. This is the first Indian film in 30 years to be included in the main competition of Cannes festival. Finally, a trip to the Australian coast, where Nicholas Cage, who has recently been playing with his own image, will have a face off as the titular “Surfer” with local “wave-catching” enthusiasts. After the screenings, we can even talk about our vacation photos together.
