The Women’s World appeared in the LFF programme for the 100th anniversary of Polish women obtaining civil rights. It was supposed to draw attention to the problems that women from all around the world have to face every day. Their situation is not getting better and there are still many films being made about it. That is why we continue to select productions that bring up women’s problems, that for some are a foreign matter, and the everyday life for others.

Blue, dir. Emilio Martínez-Borso (Spain) 2021, 13’, 16+ A few days before the fight for the Muay Thai European title, Lydia must face an unexpected dilemma. She’s about to fight her worst rival yet… herself. Polish premiere.

Apple of My Eye, dir. Shira Farber (Israel) 2020, 19’, 16+
45-year-old Lee puts up a tent together with all the young protesters of the “Cottage Cheese” protest in Israel 2011 that was named due to the rising prices of living. When her daughter gives her an ultimatum to come back or else she will move to live with her father, Lee must decide what to do. Polish premiere.

Unknown Morning, dir. Kang Ji-sook (Republic of Korea) 2020, 23’, 16+ A man drives around in a truck with his daughter in search of his Vietnamese wife who ran away. The daughter acts as though she is helping her father, but she secretly wishes that her mom would never have to return. Polish premiere.

Another One for Daddy, dir. Eszter Kajlik (Hungary) 2021, 3’, 16+ A short film about the misogynistic practice performed after childbirth and how it affects the life of those who are involved. Polish premiere.

Khadiga, dir. Morad Mostafa (Egypt) 2021, 20’, 18+
Khadiga, a 16-year-old mother, lives alone with her baby after her husband left for work in a remote city. On an ordinary day she makes her way through the hustle of Cairo streets to do some visits where she feels uncomfortable with the surroundings. Film presented at e.g. Clermont-Ferrand ISFF.

Oh the Crocodiles, dir. Agathe Sénéchal, Elise Debruyne, Cérine Raouraoua, William Defrance, Agatha Sip (France) 2021, 6’, 16+ A little girl is released in the universe of a Pop-Up book tale managed by a crocodile who won’t hesitate to have a discriminatory behavior against women. Film presented at e.g. Animocje IAFF.
