The exhibition presents deposits, gifts of artists and artists gathered by the gallery over the course of over 35 years of its operation, as well as new works.
“Let’s tilt the walls as others lift their hats …” – a fragment of the text by Ryszard Płazy (1959-1998) became the gallery’s motto at the beginning of its operation. Used for the first time on the occasion of the exhibition “BIAŁA- Art Without Walls” in 1994, the motto is recalled again for this exhibition. Today it gains a new, deep meaning: openness to the other, the ability to discreetly and eloquently see what we already know – and the thingswe know, or perhaps sense.
The assumptions of the exhibition refer to topics related to the body, transience, human physical condition, fragility, delicacy, pressure, violence and limitation. Darkness, colour, word, meaning, excess are also topics taken up by the creators.
The exhibition will feature the works by: Dobrosław Bagiński, Tomasz Bielak, Bogna Burska, Barbara Kasprzycka, Karolina Komorowska, Paweł Matyszewski, Sofie Muller, Irena Nawrot, Paweł Nowak, Ilona Oszust, Marta Polkowska, Szymon Popielec, Horst Sagunski, Jadwiga Sawicka, Mariusz Tarkawian, Grupa Twożywo, Jacek Wierzchoś, Henk Visch, Agata Zwierzyńska and others.
