Concert for the 20th anniverasry of Kapela Drewutnia’s work. Other performers will included friend bands: Burdon (Lviv), Werchowyna (Warsaw), Łemkowska Wiejska Kapela „Uherec” (Lublin).
Kapela started its activity in 1998. Musicians from different parts of Poland were united by the common musical fascinations and the unique atmosphere of Lublin, which became the seat of the band. In the repertoire of Kapela we can find Ukrainian songs, songs from the Lublin, Śląsk and Małopolska regions. The band released 9 albums.
All present and former members of the Kapela will perform during the concert.
Burdon – one of the best-known Ukrainian folk bands. It was founded in 2002 in Lviv. The band’s repertoire is based mainly on traditional music from Ukraine, Hungary and Romania. It is a combination of old melodies with contemporary arrangement. Many works are inspired by the music of ethnic groups living in the Carpathians: Lemko, Boyko and Hutsuls. From all this multicultural mix, Burdon creates its own unique atmosphere.
Werchowyna – one of the oldest and cult folk bands in Poland. The band was formed in 1991 in Warsaw. Werchowyna’s repertoire includes Ukrainian, Belarusian and Russian songs and melodies. The line up of the band and the repertoire has changed over the years, and now it performs mainly a polyphonic a capella songs. The hallmark of the band is the original white singing. As they say about themselves: we have been singing for many years, but still with the same passion.
Łemkowska wiejska kapela Uherec – the band consists of Lublin’s musicians of the young generation, in love with the traditions of the Ruthenian highlanders from the Carpathian region. Songs and melodies from archival recordings – from decelit recordings, vinyls, reel tape and own field research – are the basis of the band’s repertoire. “Uherec” performs Lemko music in its raw, natural sound. White voices, traditional instruments and love for the mountains form a primal and extremely interesting mix.
