In a world governed by an absolute, patriarchal code, two young girls, in the name of the honour of their families, must complete a bloody vendetta.
Poland in the near future. Behind the gates of the closed housing estate, under the watchful eye of CCTV, a peculiar game is taking place. We watch a world in which weapons are legal, arms can be bought at a gas station, and people’s lives are governed by the absolute blood code. Two girls are caught in clashes between neighbouring families. Is it possible to reject the rules that govern the all-encompassing culture of revenge, full of violence and terror?
“Eastern” received three awards at the 38th Youth and Film Festival in Koszalin: for Maja Pankiewicz for her acting discovery, for the Pro8l3m band for the best music, as well as the Journalists’ Award for, among others “(…) breaking the convention, constantly surprising the viewer and two girl figures who could envy Marvel’s productions.”
