A music collective founded by Lena Romul (saxophonist, singer and composer). The idea of the band is to combine folk inspirations with contemporary, slightly electronic and jazz music.
On the front, a powerful does of female energy: 3 equal voices (Lena Romul, Martyna Zając, Patrycja Malinowska), telling about deep female dilemmas and ecstasies, and behind them a solid male instrumental base (Patryk Kraśniewski, Bartek Alber, Piotr Olszewski, Jerzy Markuszewski). Thanks to the crowdfunding campaign, after the release of the first songs, SJU raised funds to record their debut album. Mariusz Dziurawiec and Jarosław Smak from the legendary AS One Studio took on the production and recording. The album will feature singing Women from the Warsaw Village Band, cymbals by Magda Sobczak, the leader of Żywiołak – Robert Jaworski on the hurdy-gurdy, Bart Pałyga on the fiddle and pipes and Łukasz Czekała in a jazz solo on the violin. The icing on the cake are the collective leader’s saxophones. The graphic design was done by Lena’s sister, Justyna Romul. The premiere took place on June 16, 2020.
