MILO Ensemble is a group of musicians from different continents, led by Milo Kurtis – a multi-instrumentalist, composer and one of the greatest musicians in the world.
The music performed by the band draws handfuls from ethno genres and is played on acoustic instruments – saxophone, clarinet, oud, saz, santoors, thrombits, drums, kalimba. It is influenced by the music of the Eastern Mediterranean, Polish folk music, West Africa, Tibet and jazz. The ME concert is a form of journey across continents and styles.
This time, the musicians of MILO Ensemble will be accompanied on stage by none other than Wojciech Waglewski himself, an outstanding guitarist and composer, a Friend of Milo Kurtis, with whom he has been performing since 1972, when they both performed in the “Ya Sou” group. Wojciech Waglewski – founder and leader of the Voo Voo band, creator of the Meskie Granie project, guitarist, composer, author and music producer. Studio musician and producer of many albums. He collaborated with leading jazz artists. He played in bands such as “Bemibem”, “Osjan”, “Morawski Waglewski Nowicki Hołdys”. Winner of Polityka’s Passport for composing and producing activities and for the ability to combine music of different cultures.
The originator, creator and leader of MILO Ensemble is a tireless seeker of new sounds and cultures – Milo Kurtis – co-founder of Maanam, Izrael, Zgoda and other cult Polish bands. Milo also invited artists such as Tomasz Stańko, who recorded two albums with him (Osjan and Tribute to Don Cherry). He also collaborated on stage with the famous American co-founder of Free Jazz – Don Cherry and Bob Stewart, the most outstanding jazz tuber in the world, who played with the Gil Evans Orchestra – the first performance in Poland with this orchestra took place at the Jazz Jamboree 1974.
