Awarded by the American Academy of Motion Picture Arts and Sciences, the Oscars are one of the most prestigious awards in the world of cinema. Nominations are announced in several categories, including the best short films. They are presented in sets, so one visit to the cinema provides a spectrum of emotions and amazing, inspiring stories. Enjoy the best shorts of the season on a cinema screen.
Five short films that cover a variety of topics. "The After" Dayo (David Oyelovo) tries to regain peace of mind after a brutal incident in central London. In "Invincible" the viewers experiences the drama of 48 hours in life of a 14-year-old boy who desperately wants freedom. "Knight of Fortune" is a parable about Karl, who discovers how much one man can endure, while "Red, White, Blue" tells the story of a young girl Rachel (Brittany Snow), who goes all in to overcome the difficulties of fate. Finally, immerse yourself in the pastel world of Wes Anderson and his "The Amazing Story of Henry Sugar", in which a millionaire (Benedict Cumberbatch) learns extraordinary skills. It is an unforgettable journey through different worlds, full of surprises and deep emotions.

Red, White and Blue / dir. Nazrin Choudhury / USA / 2023 / 23 min
Rachel (Brittany Snow; “Pitch Perfect,” “X”) is a single mother and lives from paycheck to another. The Wonderful Story of Henry Sugar / dir. Wes Anderson / USA / 2023 / 37 min
Another film gem from Wes Anderson. This time, the director takes on Roald Dahl’s story about a rich man named Henry Sugar who discovers the existence of a guru who can see with his eyes closed. The millionaire decides to master this skill and use it in gambling. On the screen, as usual with Anderson, a constallation of stars: Benedict Cumberbatch (in the title role), Ralph Fiennes, Ben Kingsley and Dev Patel.
