A dystopian vision of the near future. Four journalists make their way through the United States, engulfed by civil war.
They are heading to the White House to talk to the president – this may be the last chance for such material. Garland shows the master-student relationship, but above all asks about humanity – how looking at evil through a lens changes the perspective, how it also changes the viewer. However, to oppose evil, it must be documented, even at the cost of indifference. The film is sensual, emotional, full of creative contrasts.
