The exhibition presents the works of two artists. Łukasz Głowacki reveals the tension between neutrality and dependence, choice and its conditions in his works. Ignacy Oboz, on the other hand, will present, among others, his latest paintings, in which he conducts a dialogue with classical iconography.
Łukasz Głowacki: Neutral throw from support
The exhibition title reveals the tension between neutrality and dependence, choice and its conditions. “Throw” suggests a gesture – a moment of decision, which can be both a look from a distance, an attempt to capture the whole, and an unpredictable act – like throwing a grenade, whose field of impact is a random blind force. Impartiality is an illusion here – every decision requires an instrument of “support”, a point of reference that enables action but also limits it. The exhibition is a space stretched between movement and statics, possibility and necessity. It is a reflection on the dynamics of the creative process, in which every action, although seemingly neutral, requires support – both performative and ideological.
Ignacy Oboz: Self-portrait with a pipe
This is the artist’s first exhibition in his hometown. It will present older works oscillating around the Suprematism of Kazimir Malevich as well as his latest paintings, in which he conducts a dialogue with classical iconography in a neoplastic approach. The title of the exhibition refers to a quite common iconographic motif, the pipe. It was present in Baroque vanitas still lifes, later as a kind of attribute of artistic bohemia, up to philosophical considerations in the paintings of Rene Magritte or the post-artistic activities of Marcel Duchamp.
