The exhibition’s title refers, among other things, the materials the artist uses in her works. They come from second-hand stores, or clearance sales. They are not luxurious, and deliberately rely on ordinariness and everyday life. All sales are associated with opportunities to get rid of excess. Anna Nawrot’s intention is to reflect on consumerism, the flood of material goods, and ways of reusing them. The title also signifies clearing out warehouses, leaving empty space, free from the burden of history.

Most of the works are premieres. In recent years, the artist has focused her activity on original textiles, united by the idea of ​​recycling. She uses sewing, embroidery, jewelry, yarn, and crochet to create paintings and objects. Some of them are patchwork images of women, to whom the author has given names related to history, cultural stereotypes, or symbolism. Others are objects and images made of yarn, associated with anatomy and the female body. A separate group consists of minimalist abstract paintings, built from intricate patterns and structures. In doing so, she draws attention to the handicraft work usually attributed to women.

The exhibition will be accompanied by a publication that is an autobiographical attempt to answer selected aspects of the gallery’s functioning from 1985 to 2025.
