Michel Franco’s “Dreams” is a story full of sensual tension — a story about passion, the clash of cultures, ambition, and the price paid for fulfilling dreams. Can a relationship between people from such distant worlds survive?
A love teetering on the edge of two worlds. Fernando (Isaac Hernández, making a brilliant debut) is a young, talented ballet dancer from Mexico who dreams of a great career and a life in the United States. He is convinced that his beloved — the charismatic Jennifer (Jessica Chastain), an influential philanthropist and regular at elite salons — will help him open the door to a new future. Risking his own safety, he leaves everything behind and sets out to join her.
However, Fernando’s sudden appearance upends Jennifer’s orderly reality and disrupts her carefully constructed image. The woman faces a choice that cannot be postponed: how far will she go to protect the love that united them despite their differences, and at the same time not lose the reputation built over the years?
