Since their beginnings Jazzpospolita have defied associations, trends, and even their own name. By constantly balancing between genres, the group has managed to create its own distinctive sound.
Post, avant, pre, trance, prog, soft, hard? Jazz, rock, ambient, minimal, trip-hop? It’s truly difficult to list all the labels that have been attached to Jazzpo’s work. Can they all be bound together with jazz?
Jazzpo’s compositions – full of harmony, dynamics, and melodicism – evolve according to the needs of the moment. Thanks to this flexibility and diversity of sound, Jazzpospolita has been warmly received in clubs, festivals, and concert halls.
Jazzpospolita’s “Kosmopolis” is a sonic tale of five completely different stories unfolding in different places at the same time. Warsaw. Old Town. Oviedo. Klunton. Polis. All take place in a bittersweet present, heading into the unknown. In a contemporary era where, like never before, what’s new immediately becomes old. Open or closed? We ask questions, wait for answers.
This album is personal and identity-driven, though genre-wise very complex, blended like a modern polis. A cosmopolis.
