The quartet is led by Tomeka Reid – a cellist and composer regarded as one of the most original and versatile figures in contemporary jazz and improvised music. Described by The New York Times as a “New Jazz Power Source”, Reid combines a strong sense of groove with bold, open composition and the freedom of improvisation, creating music of exceptional energy and expressiveness. Her work stems from an intensive live performance practice and collaborations with leading figures of the American avant-garde, and the quartet provides a key platform for her distinctive musical language, which balances structure and spontaneity. The group will be promoting their latest album, “dance! skip! hop!”
