DemakijazFilmFest: festival update

FESTIVAL UPDATE

We’ve already unveiled 3/5 of the #LetsStartTheRevolution films. We intended to reveal the entire #DemakijazFilmFest programme today. Until very recently, this was indeed our plan. Given the current objective circumstances, we’ve had to modify our schedule.

In 2016, when we were organizing the first, pioneering Demakijaż – Women’s Film Festival, we aimed to showcase women auteurs, to organize meetings, concerts and workshops, and to build the festival as a community. Thanks to your presence year in, year out and your year-round feedback, we are aware you’ve been with us from the get-go. And that you’ll join us this year. It’s a commitment we’re happy to take on.

Demakijaż has always been a safe space. We intend to keep it that way – especially in these pandemic times. Together with our co-organisers and partners (Homo Faber, Camera Femina, Centre for Culture in Lublin, City of Lublin, Hairouna Film Festival), we’ve decided to change the original date of the event.
The festival will take place online between 18 and 22 November 2020.

Education, inclusivity and wide accessibility remain the festival’s core mission. Given the current seating limitations and social distancing requirements, only a fraction of our regular audience would have a chance to watch films in the physical cinema and participate in the competition screenings. We believe that’s not good enough.

Demakijaż online will remain free of charge and accessible. We will provide Polish Sign Language translation and are currently working towards offering audio description.

More news soon.

Stay with us and #staysafe
