The author of the project is Jakub Stępień. The design of the neon refers to the name and history of Żmigród – a medieval hill in the Lublin castle complex, which today is a street within the former complex. The word “żmigród” etymologically refers to the viper and the dragon – creatures firmly rooted in Slavic beliefs.
The project was co-financed by the Ministry of Culture, National Heritage and Sport from the Culture Promotion Fund as part of the “NEONart” task – a festival of the art of designing and creating neon lights, implemented by the Society for Cultural Education in Lublin in cooperation with the Centre for Culture.
