14th Lublin Jazz Festiwal

One of the most recognizable jazz festival in eastern Poland is back! Taking place from July 10th to 16th, Lublin Jazz Festival will host outstanding artists from around the world. A week-long music feast in the European Youth Festival.

Performing in the Inner Courtyard of the Centre for Culture in Lublin will be, among others, Polish projects that originally combine jazz with contemporary sounds, such as the iconic Skalpel in their electro-instrumental version, Michał Jan & Immortal Onion, or Zvanai. Urszula Dudziak will perform a very special recital to mark her 80th birthday; participating artists will present songs from her studio albums, as well as songs by other jazz performers.

The former cloister stage will also see one of the most successful and recognized trombonists in history, a pioneer of playing the … shell, i.e. Steve Turre. In addition, the programme includes a representation of the young British jazz scene, visiting Lublin as part of the unprecedented cooperation of the Polish jazz festival with the recognized label Jazz Re:freshed. Also presenting – the most interesting contemporary projects from Ukraine and Austria.

Thanks to the presentations of the Lublin premieres the audience will get a chance to get to know the local jazz scene.

Traditionally, winners of the young talents’ competition, JAZZiNSPIRACJE, perform during the Festival, and a special concert will feature winners of the previous edition – Superminimalism.

The concerts will be accompanied by additional events: exhibitions, meetings, jam sessions and a joint musical brunch at “Jazz Dobry!”.
