Palestine: Right Here, Right Now

On 10-11 May, we will inaugurate a new project titled “Right Here, Right Now”, which focuses on the cultures of Southwest Asia and North Africa (SWANA). Our aim is to deepen the understanding of the complexity and diversity of the SWANA region.

In this way, we are broadening our current work in the field of intercultural dialogue, which is carried out as part of the “Voices of the World” series. It already includes Jewish, Belarusian, Ukrainian, and Caribbean cultures.

The first chapter of the “Right Here, Right Now” series is dedicated to Palestine due to its current situation, which requires special interest and support. We will present films addressing a variety of social, political, and cultural issues. The programme will also include meetings with creators and translators, providing an opportunity for direct contact with their work and the people involved. There will also be talks and panel discussions. Particular attention will be devoted to Palestinian culture in the broader context of Arab culture, analysing, among others, issues of feminism and the role of women in Arab society as well as the current political situation.
