For years, Nick Cave has been one of the most fascinating and enigmatic figures in the world of music, literature and film.
His unique cinematic portrait makes him even more mysterious. Day number 20,000 in the life of Nick Cave – starting with the sound of his alarm clock in the early morning to the late-night walk along the beach after a concert – turns into an extraordinary and fascinating portrait of the artist. We see Cave talking to a therapist about his childhood, or flicking through photos from the crazy years when his career was just beginning. Materials from rehearsal rooms and recording studios are interspersed with interviews witjh musicians who have worked with him: Blixy Bargeld of The Bad Seeds, and Kylie Minogue. We also see him in private situations, at home watching a movie with his children or meeting a friend. The images are accompanied by a narration written and read by Cave himself, who shares his views on life with the viewers and introduces us to the secrets of music making on the occasion of recording the album “Push the Sky Away”.

Spotlight: Nick Cave
Probably most of us associate Nick Cave mainly with music – no wonder, his achievements in this field are really substantial, and his compositions have been moving the hearts of millions of fans around the world for decades. One needs to delve a little deeper to discover that Nick Cave has a strong connection to the world of film – his music is often used in film soundtracks, and he is also active as a screenwriter and actor. One cannot fail to mention a number of documentaries depicting his work, and revealing a glimpse of the usually enigmatic artist’s private life. In February, we want to introduce the audiences to Cave and his achievements in the field of film. The cycle will open with the documentary “20,000 days on Earth”, in which the artist talks about his life and work. This will be followed by “The Assassination of Jesse James by the Coward Robert Ford”, for which Cave and Warren Ellis created a truly magical soundtrack. The next film will be “Hell or High Water”, where Cave was also responsible for the music, and at the end we will check how he coped as a screenwriter in the film “Lawless”. We hope that this journey, which we will take together with Nick Cave, will be a space for interesting experiences and long discussions for all of us!
