Electronics broken with acoustic drums, double bass, saxophone and moody vocals. Sounds like a big city?
It is true that the material full of such sounds composition is related to the Trójmiasto, but it was recorded in a tiny shed in Polanówka, a small village near Lublin. Intimate and non-binding terms of this session strongly favoured the registration of exceptionally personal confessions. On the elusive album Artificialice takes the listener through successive – often surprisingly different in character – works, offering the audience a story about discovering one’s identity and, above all, about need to free oneself from the “prison” of one’s own and others created in one’s mind. Young, talented and creative musicians associated with Academy of Music in Gdańsk, co-creating bands such as: Immortal Onion, Hania Rani, Tomasz Chyła Quintet, Quantum Trio, Alfah Femmes, Mu (Tymon Tymański), Rottenness (Marcin Świetlicki), Sławek Jaskułke Sextet, Grzegorz Kapołka Trio, The Fruitcakes, Ziemia or Klawo.
The initiator of the project is the singer and songwriter Alicja Sobstyl. Her debut album “Prisoners of Expectations”, the musical material of which was produced as a result collective cooperation of Alicja Sobstyl, Tomasz Rafalski, Alan Kapołka and Maciej Świniarski intertwined with an individual process of music production Ziemowit Klimek and Krzysztof Hadrych with the guest participation of Michał Jan Ciesielski on the saxophone is characterized by hypnotic vocals that evoke on thought of Björk, fresh arrangements in the style of Hiatus Kaiyote and uncompromising nature electronic sounds inspired by Sophie or Arca.
