The Third Ear Music series returns with its eighteenth edition dedicated to contemporary improvised music. For over a decade, the project has been creating a space for artistic encounters rooted in dialogue, spontaneity, and the free exchange of musical ideas. Each concert features a unique configuration of creative personalities whose shared language is improvisation.
That evening, the audience will experience two premiere sets prepared especially for this occasion. The stage will bring together artists from Argentina, Mexico, and Poland—acclaimed improvisers who have been actively shaping the European and global experimental, jazz, and free improvised music scenes for years.
The first set will be performed by Argentine drummer Marcos Baggiani, Warsaw-based guitarist and sound experimenter Piotr Bukowski, and Lublin-based tenor saxophonist Tomasz Piątek. The meeting of these three musicians promises a multidimensional narrative based on sonorism, free interaction, and open form. Baggiani’s experience within the Amsterdam improvised music scene will collide with Piątek’s uncompromising approach rooted in the spirit of real-time composition, and Bukowski’s experimental aesthetic balancing on the edge of avant-garde and electronics.
The second set will feature a dialogue between Mexican sound artist, percussionist, and vibraphonist Emilio Gordoa, highly acclaimed Warsaw clarinetist Paweł Szamburski, and Wrocław saxophonist Władysław Kosendiak, who will play the bass saxophone in this unique line-up. This is a gathering of distinct artistic personalities whose work spans contemporary music, avant-garde, electronics, and innovative approaches to sonic traditions. Gordoa’s Berlin experiences from the Echtzeitmusik circle and his sonic explorations involving live electronics will engage in a deep, unpredictable dialogue with Szamburski’s mystical style that weaves improvisation with early music, all underpinned by the deep, rarely heard resonance of Kosendiak’s bass saxophone.
