He was one of the greatest masters of contemporary photography. Funny, inventive, provocative and intriguing, he drew inspiration from his childhood spent in Berlin in the 1920s.
As Karl Lagerfeld stated: “Berlin was him and he was Berlin”, although Newton was also a cosmopolitan. The film presents the life, work and heritage of the controversial genius of photography, and the attitude of the protagonists of his photos towards him.
The author of the film asks himself: who was Helmut Newton? Is it just the author of cult, erotic female nudes? The way in which he portrayed women still provokes the question of whether they were subjects or objects.
A surprising image of Helmut Newton is revealed by top models, stars and actresses he photographed. Catherine Deneuve, Grace Jones, Charlotte Rampling, Isabella Rossellini, Claudia Schiffer – portrayed and reveal the truth to us.
