A special concert with the participation of the master of Polish Jazz – Jan Ptaszyn Wróblewski.
The Quartet was founded in the mid-nineties. It has performed on countless concerts, recorded participated in festivals, and travelled abroad, including to the USA and the Mecca of jazzmen, the “Birdland” club. It represents music based on the most classical jazz traditions, not omitting, however, more modern achievements. The band always tries to play dynamically, although lyrical climates are not alien to them. They run from all kinds of untested experiments, but also from well-proven patterns. This means that they are not alienated from their audience.
The leader of the formation is Jan Ptaszyn Wróblewski, one of the most important and distinguished artists in the history of Polish jazz – an outstanding saxophonist (tenor and baritone), composer, arranger, conductor, publicist, radio journalist, music critic, teacher, announcer. The last albums recorded by the quartet are “Real Jazz” (2005) and “Supercalifragilistic” (2007) – both released by BCD Records. The band has several faces and line-ups, mostly based on different bass players. Jacek Meira Niedziela was a full-time double bass player for almost 18 years. After that time, he was replaced by Andrzej Święs, who to this day is, so to speak, the number 1 bass player in the line-up. Sławomir Kurkiewicz and Michał Kapczuk also appear instead of him. In 2018, the quartet revealed its electric face when Antoni Dębski joined the band with bass guitar. This line up is commonly called Krakow’s and unofficially in the social media of Elecraj.
