The Roth / Zimpel / Zemler project brings together three of the most characteristic experimental musicians working in Poland today.
Alex Roth – born in Detroit and raised in London, composer, guitarist and producer, who has been called “one of the most innovative and impressive talents of contemporary music” (music OMH). His work ranges from improvised solo performances to orchestral compositions; from dance and theatre music to sound installations; from the electro-acoustic chamber ensemble Sefiroth, which radically explores traditional Sephardic repertoire, to the avant-garde Blue-Eyed Hawk quartet and many other bands.
Wacław Zimpel – winner of the prestigious Polityka’s Passport, clarinetist, composer and producer, one of the most original and exceptional Polish talents. Inspired by both jazz and electronics, minimalism and the music of roots from all over the world, in his solo releases and countless collaborations Zimpel not so much blurs the boundaries, but completely eliminates them.
Hubert Zemler – drummer, composer and improviser involved in countless projects of
classical, experimental, improvised and pop music. They include working with
Piotr Kurek (as Piętnastka), Wacław Zimpel (LAM, To Tu Orchestra), Kamil Szuszkiewicz, and Mitch & Mitch, as well as solo interpretations of repertoires by famous composers such as Per Nørgård and Steve Reich.
