Founded in 1994 in Sopot by Maciej Cieślak, the band’s debut album, “Statek kosmos” (Spaceship), was released in 1998 by Biodro Records. The band has recorded four albums, the last being “Pan Planeta” (Pan Planeta) in 2006. They have received numerous awards and distinctions for these albums: five Fryderyk nominations.

The band members have collaborated with John Zorn, Andrzej Smolik, Ryszard Tymański, Glenn Meyer, and Artur Rojek, among others. With the latter, they co-founded the legendary Lenny Valentino project. The band has created soundtracks for several theater productions (including “Tory,” “Ordinary Follies,” “The Adventures of Sinbad the Sailor”) and silent films, including those at the Era New Horizons Festival and the Polish Film Festival in Gdynia (“Battleship Potemkin,” “Trail of Shame,” “Man with a Movie Camera”). Ścianka’s style, while recognizable, defies easy definitions; it evolves in line with its current explorations. Its characteristic elements can be classified as psychoactivity, garage rock energy, dreamy meadow ballads, and mini-radio plays. Ścianka is known for its exuberant concerts, combining immense energy and spontaneity with a mood of meditative fusion with the audience.
