Silent movie stars face the challenge of a sound film.

Monumental Pictures, whose stars are Don Lockwood and Lina Lamont, must face the competition which released the “Jazz Singer”. A decision to make a sound movie is made. The initial version of the film turns out to be a total flop, mainly due to the quality of the equipment at the time, but also due to Lina’s voice. To save production, Don persuades the label to make it into a musical. Winner of the Golden Globe

Why Benshi?
Where does the Benshi name come from?
When the cinema appeared in Japan the special office of storyteller and interpreter, because of the cultural differences, was created with it. He was responsible for explaining to viewers the content flowing from the foreign movies. This responsible office was called “Benshi”.
