Shh – can you hear it? It’s just around the corner – 3rd Lubliner Festival! A few days before the actual festival events, the organizers invite everyone to hear the klezmer sounds buzzing on the streets of Lublin, and in the nooks and crannies of the Old Town.
We will find out how the pre-war Lublin sounded thanks to the concerts of the Berberys band. The Lublin ensemble specializes in traditional klezmer and Balkan music. The group performs vocal and instrumental pieces sung in Yiddish, Hebrew, Macedonian, Serbian,
English, Spanish and Polish. The group’s repertoire includes traditional Jewish songs, Polish and Hebrew songs enriched with their own interpretations, as well as singing, spontaneous, improvised Balkan melodies and classical pieces.
