Oscar -nominated production presents the life of the breakthrough conductor of the German orchestra.
Lydia Tár (Cate Blanchett), a breakthrough conductor of a large German orchestra, is at the peak of her career, preparing both the premiere of the book and the awaited live performance of Mahler’s 5th Symphony. Together with her wife, the concertmaster of the orchestra, Sharon Goodnow (Nina Hoss), she raises their daughter Petra. Lydia is also a co-founder of a mentor program for young conductors. Lydia's personal assistant, her former student Francesca (Noémie Merlant), hopes that one day Lydia will advance her to the conductor's assistant. When Lydia is accused of improper behaviour, her uninterrupted career and private life begin to take an unexpected turn.
