The last part of the Maltese triptych “The Writers’ Asylum” by neTTheatre, which is the key to understanding the previous parts: “The Rite of Passage” and “A Few Words Only for You, Which I Repeat Endlessly”.
“The Book of the Sign” is the title of the work of Abraham Abulafia, a Kabbalist from Saragossa, who in the 13th century decided to unite the Abrahamic religions. To this end, he went to meet the Pope, who died on the day of his arrival. The Kabbalist was accused of using witchcraft and sentenced to be burned on the stake. However, after 40 days he was released in mysterious circumstances. He went to the small rocky island of Comino, where he tried to find the gift of prophecy by meditating on the letters of the Name. Rejected by people – he tried to establish contact with God. And then he wrote the book. A few centuries earlier, on neighboring islands, Odysseus and Paul of Tarsus tried to do the same. The Writers’ Asylum. This is our meeting point.
