Union of Lublin Day – Ugniavijas concert (Lithuania) and dance with the HrayBery group (Ukraine/Poland)
The Mayor of Lublin and the Chairman of the Lublin City Council invite to the artistic part of the city celebration of the 445th anniversary of the Union of Lublin.
Ugniavijas is a Lithuanian folk band that specializes in ancient war songs. Their music combines authentic melodies and lyrics with modern arrangements and harmonies. Their songs talk about heroism, sacrifice, faith and freedom. Ugniavijas are not only musicians, but also reenactors of history and medieval crafts, united by deep love and respect for their heritage. They revive the traditions of their ancestors who fought against invaders and oppressors for centuries, preserving their identity and culture.
The band are: Kazimieras Sadauskas, Laimis Motuza, Martynas Švedas, Mindaugas Ladas, Simonas Kiela.
HrayBery brings back to life forgotten music created at the meeting point of two cultures – Polish and Ukrainian. The band’s repertoire consists primarily of dance pieces (cossacks, kolomyjkas, mazurkas, polkas and waltzes) reconstructed on the basis of archival sources: sheet music and audio recordings. The band’s sound allows the listener to immerse themselves in the old, multicultural dance music of regions inhabited together by Poles, Ukrainians, Jews and Roma. During the concert at the Cultural Center in Lublin, the musicians will invite you to dance together to the sounds of songs from their first album
“Karczma”.
The band are: Martia Bodnar, Agata Weber, Seweryn Danyleiko, Maksym Nakonieczny, Serhij Postolnikov
