The performance "Thaw" is a journey into the interior of man, and an attempt to turn to the subconscious.
Our bodies are a material version of ourselves, and can reflect the truth about us, both the conscious one and the truth hidden beneath the surface, inaccessible to the mind. That is why corporeality, movement and image are the main means of expression in this performance. The heroine, like the characters created by Haruki Murakami, descends into a well, where with each step she sinks deeper into the infinite abyss of herself. "The Thaw" is a performance that creates space and opportunity for the viewer to participate in this journey.
Unbearable heat melts the substance from the mold, giving it the illusion of freedom. A series of dissolutions and melting occur. The body deforms desperately, seeking contact with itself. A journey into the depths, full of returns, the past strewn with traps of repetition, the present seems to be stuck in the abyss of blackness. The ice cracks with a scream and creates gaps for the strong winds. I can hear you faintly. You blend into the background, but I feel it calling to me. He has a message, thank you. I’ll be there at quarter past eight. I thought I wouldn’t get up, but she got up and turned on the light to look into the darkness. Only when you expose it to light does it stop being itself. She wasn’t herself. She positioned the sleeves comfortably and I checked that the zipper worked properly. It works both ways.
